About

My entire life I’ve been a natural girl. Wayyyyy before it turned into a fad. I remember the days when the only products that were made for natural hair was Luster’s Pink Oil and good ole fashion water. I grew up in the days were everybody was getting their hair laidddddddd and fried to death. Doing whatever it took to get the straightest hair and slickest baby hairs. Meanwhile, I was running around town with a huge nappy puff with a birds nest underneath because I didn’t know how to manage my hair. Unless I had braids (aka cornrows), my bestfriend’s mother paid for me to get my hair done, or I managed to try and straighten it myself, I always had a huge puff on top of my head. I was frequently made fun of because my hair was “nappy”.

Fast forward to high school, I was working, so I was able to pay and get my hair done myself. Which meant constantly straightening my hair… and when I felt fancy, dying it multiple colors. By the time I got to college, I experimented with a “texturizer” which is basically a perm that you leave in for a short amount of time. Don’t worry, I only got it once because it left my hair feeling way too thin. Again came the jokes. I would straighten my hair before a party, but because I was natural, by the time I left the party, there was another bird’s nest on top of my head.

One day, my senior year of college, I just woke up one day and decided not to straighten my hair anymore. Instead I would experiment with weaves, until the heat damage grew out… and eventually it did. Through this journey, I LEARNED about my hair. After a while I KNEW what my hair needed to act the way I wanted it to and in the end I LOVED my hair.

The reality is, not all natural women want to spend the time making concoctions in their kitchen. So this is the guide for the lazy natural woman who would rather buy a product than spend hours making it.

Always remember to LEARN. KNOW. then LOVE your hair.
